Cayuga Lake Creamery- Interlaken, NY

Many people travel though the Finger Lakes region enjoying the wine trail, farm land and winding country roads. Here we found the perfect road side ice cream stand, Cayuga Lake Creamery. It is a must stop- only a 10 minute drive north from Taughannock Falls! Cayuga Creamery pays hommage to its roots, offering a scumptious wine sorbet and numerous other ice cream options from shakes to sundaes all made with local farm, fresh dairy.

Check out this "single scoop "! We love it when the cone is weighed down from all the ice cream on top.

There are so many flavors, even ice cream made with soy. They even offer a maple bacon flavor from 8-11am for breakfast on Saturdays(now that's a breakfast of champions)! Cayuga Creamery's ice cream tastes super fresh and creamy, it is rich from the happy cows and goes perfectly with brisk country air.

They have many options for sundaes, like the Bait Bucket topped with chocolate crumbles and sour gummy worms or try a slice of Ice Cream Pizza. There is even ice cream for Fido, featuring soft serve topped with a dog bone. Its fun for the whole family!

Hope's Cookies- Rosemont, PA

Attached to a delicious pizza store, in the middle of Rosemont, Pennsylvania you will run into the smell of warm homemade cookies from the attached Hope's Cookies store. While passing through this town on the Mainline, Hope's Cookies is a must-take detour! Yes, we said Hope's Cookies, not Hope's ice cream; however our favorite treat at Hope's is their mouth-watering ice cream sandwich; your choice of two warm, freshly baked cookies with ice cream in between.  One of our favorites is one heath bar cookie and one double chocolate cookie with coffee ice cream in between!... Yum! Our stomach just grumbled thinking about it.

You can try to eat it like a normal ice cream sandwich, but we assure you a spoon will most likely be needed because they are huge! (Your mouth is going to ask you for a glass of water after, in a good way).

Giolitti- Rome, Italy

Heading to Rome? Steps away from the world's most ancient building (the Pantheon) lies the world's most delicious gelato from Giolitti! Four years ago on a trip to Italy our taste buds got to experience the wonders the gelatarians(if that is such a title) at Giolitti created and our mouths are still talking about it. While eating dinner in Tuscany, we overheard people raving about Giolitti.

When you walk into the gelatoria, a classic and elegant old ice cream parlor - the black-vested servers are old-time, professional scoopers who take their scooping seriously! There are what seem to be hundreds of flavors (all written in Italian, so bring your translator), each tasting exactly like what the flavor is. When eating the pear flavored gelato it tastes as though you are biting into juicy and perfectly ripe pear, although its more of a soft feeling than a hard-crunch. And the grapefruit gelato, tastes as though you are eating a tangy grapefruit. The hazelnut flavor, you could be eating a handful of hazelnuts and not even know it,despite the fact your lips are licking the taste off a cone. The Gelatarians have the recipes so down to science, it is virtually indescribable how perfect and savory the gelato is.
We were so pleased when we discovered Giolitti in the afternoon..

...we went back after dinner that same night...
Sara's shirt enjoyed the Gelato too!
...and for lunch the next day!

The best part is each cone is topped with a large dollop of house-made, fluffy whipped cream!

Look at the pretty colors!

We don't think they will run out of cones for a while!

Flamingo Crossing- Key West, FL

Flamingo Crossing is where our love for ice cream began! Our annual trips to Key West, Florida since birth consist of a daily(sometimes twice daily)ice cream cone from Flamingo's. Their delicious tropical flavors make us compare every other scoop of ice cream we ever eat to Flamingo's delights! If their flashy, fun and bright flamingo sign doesn't draw you in, their intriguing flavors will! Words truly can't describe their ice cream, but we will give it a try! When consuming Flamingo's ice cream you are consuming an experience, their tropical flavors such as Passion Fruit, Guava and Papaya capture the tang of the tropical island, they are flavors that truly cool you off, while their Cuban Coffee flavor brings in a little bit of island culture to your mouth. They have flavors you can not get anywhere else in the US, we never even knew soursops and mameys were fruits until we saw their flavors on a Flamingo's ice cream cone. Flamingo's flavors are rich, distinctive and smooth.

Flavor combos you must try:
Key Lime and Passion Fruit
Cuban Coffee and Chocolate
Rum Raisin and Coconut
Butterscotch and Coffee
Banana and Chocolate
Key Lime and Coconut
Guava and Orange

Small cups and cones can get you two flavors while the medium gets you up to three flavors. You are going to want to get more than one flavor because once you leave Flamingo's you may never see these exceptional flavors again!

So as you stroll Duval street in Key West, Florida you better be holding a cone of Flamingo Crossing's ice cream (or we will be giving you the evil eye if we spot you with a cup of Haagan-Daz in tropical paradise, what a sin that would be!).
Enjoy a scoop from where our love for ice cream started!
